π Field Notes
While walking the dogs, the rain began to fall.
We moved beneath a large oak tree filled with Spanish moss and waited for the rain to lighten. From beneath the canopy, the world felt quieter. The square was quiet except for the dogs and one of the neighborhood cats watching from the brick path.
I lifted my phone and began to observe through the lens.
Under the tree, the rain seemed to disappear. My eyes wandered across the shiny brick pavers of the nearby houses, then along the deep texture of the treeβs trunk.
Finally I turned the camera upward, expecting to see a heavy curtain of rain.
Instead, it took time.
Only the slightest drops reached the lens.
What This Place Seemed to Say
Even in the middle of the city, nature keeps its own rhythm.
Even in the rain, the forest keeps its own pace.
Sometimes what looks like a storm from afar arrives slowly beneath the trees.
All photos are from time in the field.
Savannah was designed with a square every few blocks.
Two have disappeared over time, but most remain β small green sanctuaries still shaping how the city is walked.
